The Invisalign system uses clear acrylic aligners that fit over your teeth to straighten your smile. They’re removable, making it easier to eat, drink, brush and floss.
Invisalign is much more comfortable than traditional metal bracket braces and can correct most orthodontic issues. At CMOA, Dr. Livanos, Dr. Giarrusso, and Dr. Kotin create personalized treatment plans to ensure the best fit and results for every smile.
The Invisalign Process
This nearly invisible treatment option is truly changing how people see orthodontics. You’ll get a great smile without a treatment that gets in the way of your daily life. The best part about the process is that most people won’t even know you’re straightening your teeth.
We'll take photos and X-rays to create a 3-D image of your mouth to serve as the blueprint for your clear aligners. Once the Invisalign lab prints the trays, you’ll start wearing them, and the process of straightening your smile begins.
You wear the trays for about 22 hours a day but can remove them for brushing your teeth and eating. You’ll probably wear Invisalign aligners for 9–15 months and typically use 18–30 sets during treatment.
Wearing the aligners will gently move your teeth into place based on the exact movements your orthodontist plans. There are no metal brackets to attach or wires to tighten—pop in a new set of aligners about every two weeks until your treatment is complete.
The Differences Between Invisalign & Braces
The most obvious difference between braces and Invisalign is the materials used to make them. Invisalign uses smooth plastic aligners, so you won't deal with metal parts poking your mouth.
Remember, though, you have to take out the Invisalign aligners when you eat or drink anything other than water. Keep that in mind when deciding which treatment is right for you.
Taking Care of Your Aligners
The trick to Invisalign working its magic is wearing your aligners for about 22 hours every day. That's how they'll straighten your teeth. But guess what? You can take them off for special events!
