EMERGENCY: I have a loose bracket |
SOLUTION: Call our office during regular business hours to set up an appointment to glue it back on. If it is still attached to the wire, leave it in place. If it falls out please bring it with you to your appointment. If it is rubbing against your cheek put some wax on it. DO NOT CONNECT ELASTICS TO A LOOSE BRACKET.

| EMERGENCY: I have a loose band |
SOLUTION: Call our office during regular business hours to set up an appointment to re-cement the band. DO NOT CONNECT ELASTICS OR HEADGEAR TO A LOOSE BAND

| EMERGENCY: My wire came out of the tube |
SOLUTION: Try to guide the wire back into the tube with a pair of tweezers. If it is uncomfortable call our office to schedule an appointment to re-insert the wire into the tube. You can put wax on the end of the wire if it is poking your cheek until you can come in to see us. As a last resort you can cut the wire at its last point of attachment with a pair of nail clippers until you are able to come in for your appointment.

| EMERGENCY: One of my colored ties came off |
SOLUTION: This is not an emergency. You do not need to come in unless something is hurting you in which case please call our office to schedule an appointment.

| EMERGENCY: A metal tie is poking my lip |
SOLUTION: Using the eraser tip on the end of a pencil bend the wire back against the tooth. You can also cover the wire “pig tail” with wax.

| EMERGENCY: My teeth ache |
SOLUTION: Rinse your mouth with warm salt water. If this doesn’t alleviate the sensitivity you can take a pain reliever that you would normally take for a headache.

| EMERGENCY: My “spring has sprung” |
SOLUTION: Sometimes we use coils to move teeth. If a coil shifts out of position you can try to push it back into place with the eraser tip of a pencil. If it is bothering your cheek, put some wax on it and call our office to schedule an appointment.

| EMERGENCY: I was involved in an accident involving my teeth ie) car/bicycle accident, hit with a Hockey stick/Frisbee/Baseball… |
| SOLUTION: If a tooth has been displaced, this is an emergency. Call our office as soon as you are able, or you can page us 24 hours a day. We want to see you as soon as possible. |
